The objective of this study is to improve and further develop the fish monitoring programs in Burrard Inlet, Strait of Georgia, and Fraser River. The data of the fish monitoring programs are intended to assess the potential effects to biota in the context of Metro Vancouver WWTP discharges. The data collected from the studies are used to describe fish community, and evaluate whether potential effects exist with respect to ecological health and human health. As a result of program reviews of the three waterbodies and past results and recommendations of the biota monitoring programs, the Corporation has developed Program Design Questions (PDQs) to be answered through desktop studies. The PDQs are focused on sample size requirements, additional sentinel species, additional or alternative sampling areas, alternative sampling methods, and additional endpoints.
