| Description: |
Construction of two new outlets pipes will need to be constructed to connect the new NEPS2 to each of the two existing Newton Reservoir cells. Due to site constraints and current & future operation plans, it was determined that microtunnelling under the Newton Reservoir cells would be required. The 150-meter-long tunnel will be constructed using a 2,133 mm diameter casing pipe and two temporary shafts at a depth of 12 meters below the surface. The casing pipe will house the two 914mm diameter outlet pipes. Construction is planned to commence in late summer 2022, with a substantial completion date of April 30, 2023. |
