| Description: |
DESCRIPTION OF WORK To inspect and repair pipe joints for welded steel watermain, suspended under the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s (MoTI) Queensborough Bridge in New Westminster. Annacis Main No. 2 (AN2) consists of twin mains under the bridge, referenced as east and west. As constructed, the pipes are 775 mm outside diameter (30.5”) with 6.35 mm (0.25”) wall thickness. The work consists of engineering services to provide standards and specifications for inspecting, testing, welding and coating as well as field services to perform inspection and repairs to pipe joints, as described in Section 00100, Scope of Services. The work includes inspections and repairs on the bell and spigot joints for two AN2 pipes, east and west, under the Queensborough Bridge. On AN2 east, two of eighteen joints were repaired in 2019. It is expected that sixteen of eighteen joints will require inspection and at minimum three joints will be repaired and recoated along AN2 east. On AN2 west, five of eighteen joints were repaired in 2019 and 2021. It is expected that thirteen of eighteen joints will require inspection along AN2 west. For pricing, it is assumed that a total of twenty-nine joints will be inspected and a minimum of three joints will be repaired and recoated between the two mains. The coating on the pipe contains asbestos. Therefore, the inspection and repair will require proper removal and replacement procedures. It is envisioned that all work may be conducted by rope access. The work is further detailed in Section 00100 Scope. |
