The new Douglas Road Main No.2 (DRM2) will replace the existing Douglas Road Water Main (DRM1) between North Burnaby and New Westminster that was built in the 1940’s and has reached the end of its service life. The DRM2 is being implemented in eight (8) sections whereof seven (7) sections have been completed and five (5) are in service. The Still Creek Section (this project) have yet to be completed. The Still Creek Section consists of approximately 2.5 km of 1,524 mm diameter steel pipeline extending between Lougheed Highway at Delta Avenue (the Delta Section) and Canada Way at Kincaid Street (Kincaid Street Section) in the City of Burnaby. In addition, there will be one potential line valve chamber along the proposed supply main and one potential line valve chamber on Kincaid Street for tie-in to the existing Kincaid section at Canada Way. The Still Creek Section will have some major tunneled crossings that include the Trans-Canada Highway 1, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) rail line, and a number of fish bearing creeks including Still Creek and others. The Work involves the major tunneled crossings. The project includes design and installation of approximately 662 m of 1,524 mm nominal diameter water main. The alignment as shown on the Drawings, is located within the City of Burnaby. It is located generally along Douglas Road between Roy Street and Manor Street. The Work of this Contract generally consists of the supply and installation of all materials related to the construction of Douglas Road Main No. 2 – Still Creek Section – Microtunneling located on Douglas Road, in Burnaby BC. as detailed in Section 01110 – Summary of Work as per the terms, conditions, specifications, appendices and drawings contained herein. Proposals will only be considered from those Respondents advanced following Request for Qualification RFQ No. 20-023 – Douglas Road Main No. 2 Still Creek Section Microtunnelling.
